IT just crashes

OS: win xp pro eng
CPU/Ram: athlon 2800+ / 512mb ddr4

ok, all of a sudden it started crashing. I mean that everything freezes, including the mouse. and it needs reset. it is not the windows installation, i formated and reinstalled, the cooling is good, it works for half a year ok. I thing it is ram(I use it for 1 year, but is kingston [with heatsinks...] and it is ok). what do you thing.

also, I think something strange is happening, i think it needs the cpu running. if you dont have any progs running, and dont move the mouse, it is more lickely to stop. when you have program running, or mouse moving, it stop much more rarely....

what can I do? (exept trying another ram module)

See event viewer if you have up to date AV software. Might need to see how to read dump files. Usually a bad driver or unsigned driver if it isn't a virus.
