My Internet service speed is suppose to be 512/125 But I decided to test it via speedtest.net and the results were 430/106. Would that be classed as expectable or would my XP setup be holding it back from reaching it's potential. I understand peak periods and the like but when I tested this it was 1am and to be honest thought it might be a bit better than it is.

This is quite ok. You'll never get the full speed, neither through the internet nor at a local area network.

Additionally, runnig a check from a different service will most likely result in different numbers. If you are using DSL I would expect the numbers to be closer to what you pay for but I have no first hand experience with DSL so I am not sure about that. Cable can be all over the board because you are using shared bandwidth.
Summary: Hi, I am going to upgrade to xp but am not sure if I should use xp home or xp pro. Any suggestions would be a help. Is there any reason for me not to use xp pro on a home pc? Thanks. ...
