Hi,
ok first I have the isass.exe error. But Before that I could not boot in safe mode. So I went to msconfig. And put a check mark in the box where it says to start in safe mode. BAD IDEA! I can boot but windows does not load. This is what pops up when I do. " Pop up windows 1: ISASS.exe ERROR" 2: " In valid parameter was passed to a service or funtion." This is what I get when I boot. And it boots in safe mode. Because I tried to repair it with Windows cd it tells me it can not install the rest in safe mode. So what do you thing? Tried everything else Last know good...,boot windows normaly, etc. Nothing works.

If it's really isass.exe (with an upper case I), that's a virus. If it's lsass.exe (with a lower case L) that's a legitimate windows program.
Try booting from the XP CD and do a repair install. Don't be confused with the first 'repair' that you see (The Recovery Console), go past it and select the second repair (Install).Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Hi,
ok here's is an update. I had 2 partions on 1 drive. C and D. I installed XP on drive D. And I can boot from D I works. So I can see my C drive. So can I repair it from there. I mean drive D.If you need more info let me know.

Repairing the C: drive from the D: drive is not very practical.
My suggestion would be to boot from the XP CD and do a 'Repair Install' on the C: drive. A 'Repair Install' will reinstall windows, but will not delete all your programs and data. You 'will' lose all the Microsoft updates.
When you boot from the winXP CD the first option you get is a 'Repair' (Recovery Console), that's not what you want. Select 'Install' and then the second 'Repair'.

Yep tried it what you said above with the windows cd. Don't work. this is what I get " Isass.exe system error
An invalid parameter was passed to a service or funtion." So I can not get any further because in about 30 seconds it reboots. I thought of backing up my C drive. But it think I can't get all the file and folders I want. Example desktop. Thanks again.

You should find your desktop at c:\documents and settings\your user name\desktop.

Can't get into c:\documents and settings\my name\desktop. It tells me access denied. Can get into the others accept that one.

That's something I can't help with. But there's some info on taking ownership of folders at the following Microsoft web page.

Thanks for the info. The link help's. Just one thing more. Which I think is pretty much clear. If I check the properties on that folder and see how big it is, if it says 0 bytes I gues that means the folder is empty right? So if it is that means I lost my folders that where saved on desktop are gone?
Thanks again for your patients.
