XP does not support "non PLUG'n'PLAY" ISA Cards by default.

Have you thought of buying some cards made in the last 15 years?

Actually Jimi_l ISA cards were manufactured up to ten years ago, and many do function very well in XP, p'n'p 56K modems amd NIC's generally work out of the box.
intel810 the ESS card should of been auto recognized by XP was it ??

Hi, I built a computer for my freind a couple of years agao and it has 3 ISA ports. It has an ESS Audio drive and a 10/100Mbps NIC in its ISA slots and Windows XP didnt find them right away but after running add hardware wizzard both cards worked. Try uninstalling the sound card drivers, shut down the PC, take out the sound card and place it in a different ISA slot if possibe or reseat it and make sure the card is in firmly. Then plug everything back up, run the add new hardware wizzard and check the volume settings. If this dosent work there could be a problem with the sound card or the ISA slots. I also have my family computer running XP Pro and it has a ISA Creative Vibra 16, and I LOVE those sound cards. Good voume, nice sound and you can find them free on every sidewalk : ) Hope this helps.
