HI,
I'm planning to do a clean installation of xp over xp & think that there is a virus on my pc because its suddenly slowed down I have nav & used panda scan but they didn't find anything.

I've got alot of mp3's & plan to burn them and reinstall them. I prefer controlling the sound from my pc instd of the deck.

So if there is a virus on my pc will it be able to copyitself on the cd & be able to get back to the pc??

Only if you inadverantly copied the infected cile to a CDR and reloaded the file onto your computer. but the awnser is no if you are using a unburnt CDROM. (such as your oringinal XP CD). unless you have a hacker gaining access to you system, there is a verysmall likly hood that the virus is on your system, (unless you loaded it on there)

Yes its possible to burn the virus over to cd-r along with the data.
Scan the files before burning.
Scan the files before moving them back to the pc.
Format the drive. Installing over XP wont eliminate a virus.

All MP3 are clean. It cant be infected by viruses.
The most likely what viruses doing (like LoveLetter) is: it deletes all ur MP3 files and rewrite it to .VBS so it would be title.mp3.VBS. So...just look at the extension, if it is till MP3, without anymore tail than it is completely SAFE
