Ok I was wondering if this can be done. I thought I had bookmarked the site I saw it on but can't seem to find it. Anyways I'm thinking on buying Win XP pro, now there's the Upgrade and full versions. Now what I've read is that you can do a clean install with the upgrade version of XP without having another OS present, as long as you have a win 98se or higher cd. I've done the upgrade thing in the past and have never had a good experience. The reason I ask I guess is because of one thing...PRICE between upgrade and full.

Does anyone know if this can be done and would it be any different from having another OS installed oposed to clean install.

or if you have a full version of any older OS you can use that as verification as used in setp 2

it explains it there.

The upgrade version of XP home or Pro, is a FULL version of the product. It just askes you to put in a CD to prove you are infact "UPGRADING". But in fact its a blank hard drive. I do it all the time. A good way to save $100 bucks. :)
