I have had to reformat my HD three times in three days. I use my computer and suddenly it shuts off. when it does restart the message "non system disk, replace and hit any key" is disappeared. I have seen this before but it was when i had a faulty disk in the A drive. never when i was browsering the web! my computer will work for a few hours, then just suddenly turn off and say non disk error. then i have to reinstall EVERYTHING! is this a new virus or something or is there a solution? i had my system fortified, etc. i actually was running a virus scan when it happened the last time. my av system said it was two worms in my windows file and it was scanning thru, next thing i know the system turned off.

Try this. Sasser has been around for a long time. Go -start-windows update and it should send you to the update site. http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/default.aspx?ln=en-us

but the symptom is that "non system disk" error. which is primarly for when a virus is spread via diskette. is this a symptom of blaster/sasser?

is it possible its a bad hard drive?
