Is recovery software sold like OEM software?

Gateway no longer makes the recovery software I need for a 2002 machine. Can I legally buy it from eBay if it's being sold. Does it have to be sold with hardware like OEM software?

If the software is available on Ebay, I suggest you buy it.
(If you are confident it is the exact software you need)

I have purchased softward from Gateway for an old computer.
If they do NOT offer the software, I don't think they will worry about you getting it somewhere else. You may not be able to register the software (for support) but it seems that support is no longer available anyway. Good luck.
