I HAVE JUST PERCHESED A EI SYSTEM 4419 LAPTOP IM GOING TO USE IT AS MY PRIMARY COMPUTER SOURCE .
ARE LAPTOPS RELIBLE :
FIRST THE LCD DISPLAY IS IT RELIBLE HOW LONG DOES IT LAST.
SECONDLY THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD ARE THEY HARDWHERING AND RELIBLE AND ALSO THE TOUCHBOARED.
COULD YOU GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION
bond

Did you not go into this before you bought it Mike?
Obviously they can't stand the same hammer as a tower, unless you get one that's specced for the Defence ect and that will cost mmm around £3000.
It depends what make Mike, if you buy one from Ripoff & Scarper Ltd(Only the brits will understand that) then it will fall apart.
Get a good make with plenty of customer support, treat it gently and it will love you for a long time.
WolfeyOn a hot summers night would you offer your throat to the Wolf with the Red Roses?

I've owned laptops for a long time now. At one time you needed a desktop as your primary because laptops were small and not very powerful. But that's changed...today their just as powerful if not more.
I have never had a problem with the LCD display. They are as dependable as the lcd monitors for the desktops.
The keyboard... well let me put it to you this way, your laptop will become outdated long before it gives out.
Laptops are a great choice, same power and freedom of movement.
There is one drawback though...they are not as easy and more expensive when it comes to upgrading and replacing hardware.
Interesting peice of trivia: Most manufacturers have stopped calling these machines 'laptops' but instead call them notebooks. The main reason for this is that they no longer function very well in the lap. Increased power and heat output has forced the makers to place some of the venting on the bottom of the machine. So now when they are placed on the lap or any other soft surface like a bed, the vents are plugged off and the machine soon shuts down on thermal overload.
I have an HP Pavilion and it not one but two fans located on the bottom...put it on the bed for not even ten minutes and it shuts down.

I use a laptop as my primary machine. I would expect to have no problems with a brand new laptop for the first 3 years. New screens are about £200 and keyboard £100. My last new one about 2 months ago was £549 from Comet. Now for something I use all the time, everyday £549 for even 3 years is a bargain to me! Also don't forget they are worth much more than a tower second hand.
