after being with free hotmail for over 5yrs, they now want to charge over $150 for a service fix, so I cancelled, what a ripoff of the common man, shame, shame
5 years email for free and you call that a ripoff? Without details of exactly what your problem is, and what you are to be charged for, it's difficult to comment further. I've had a couple of hotmail accounts for more than 10 years now and I get 25GB of free storage on SkyDrive with each of them. That's what I call good value.
This sounds like pure bull to me. Hotmail is free, exactly what sort of "service fix" are you talking about? I don't want to be rude Ricky, but looking at your other posts, you have very little computer knowledge and I think you are confusing Hotmail with something else here. Please clarify what you claim Hotmail to be charging you for.
...and what's to cancel? You just stop using Hotmail if you don't want to take advantage of the free service any longer. Sounds like a scam to me.
It sounds like a disgruntled user who is frustrated because he doesn't understand something about Hotmail so he is out to discredit them.
I'm more charitable. I suspect that the OP is the victim of a phising scam that has no connection with Microsoft. If I took notice of every email that I get telling me I owe people money I would be a very poor man (and the whole world would know my bank details). OP - tell us more. I think you are the victim of fraud.
You could be right, it just, was not expected, after years of no charge, It is for my email being comprimised,I am not rich, so that is a good amount to me.I do understand you pay for sevices rendered.
You are so right,I have very little computer knowledge, that is why I am upset.Am i being taken for a ride or is this the norm?$150 for a computer comprinise cleanup?
You are almost certainly being taken for a ride. Ignore the message. If you are still worried then post the exact text of the message here and someone can check it.
Hotmail is owned by Microsoft, there is a free version & a pay version (Hotmail Plus). It will soon be replaced by Outlook.com. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotmail

Who is trying to charge you $150? Is it possible your system is infected with "ransomware"? Did you try Hotmail support?
