Hello
couple of minutes ago i got blue screen of death saying something about IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. This never happened to me before. Couple of months ago i tried overclocking, when i set CPU Speed to 1000MHz my computer used to hang. Well today i have tried that again but i reduced core voltage to 1.6V. Then i, on purpose, started playing Quake 3, to test if my computer is stable and it was! It didnt'd hang! But instead i got BSOD with irql_not_less_or_equal. What could have caused this?
Is it overclocking?
By the way i used to get BSOD before, but i never got the chance to read what it was saying, because in settings it was set to AUTOMATICALLY REBOOT if system error occurs, but today i unticked that.
Thanks

Sound card or video card.
I got this error when I played a game that came out recently. Ultimately, the game crashed when a cutscene played, and I got the same error as you.
I had to update my GeForce4 drivers from 30.82 to 40.72 and this problem went away.
Because you get this while playing a game, I'd guess it was a video error. Try updating your video drivers.
Good luck.

im having the same problem while playing game i get blue screen with irql not less or equal. i have tried 2 diferent video cards and still the same thing. please help. thanks

Itīs not because of overclocking.Got to be related to a driver or vxd.Look at the beginning of the blue screen. There should be some info about the file that causes the problem.

That error message is caused by faulty or incompatible hardware or software attempting to access a memory location without authorization. Suspect an incompatible driver, system service, virus scanner or backup program, as per www.sft-cyber.com

This happened to me awhile ago, and it was a faulty floppy cable ribbon, so it most likely is a hardware issue.
I still don't understand how they go bad but as soon as I put in a new one, no more IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Good Luck to you, it is most aggravating when you don't know where to start looking, but I would check all the ribbon connections.
