I just installed Win XP after a long stint of not having a computer (couldn't install any OSes, turned out to be a bad ram module) and now I get BSOD stop errors saying "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL". Nothing seems to trigger this in particular. It just kinda happens, and seems more likely to happen if I just let the computer sit for a few minutes. Has anyone else had this error, or would someone be able to give me a hand with it anyhow?
Some basic specs:
1.13 gHZ AMD
Biostar M7VKD motherboard
256 mb ram
Radeon VE video
Onboard audio
Linksys LNETX100 nic
Some cheap logitech USB webcam
40 gb Maxtor HD
20 gb Maxtor HD
Acer 16x DVD
Philips 20x10x32 CD-RW

There is no quick answer. It could be hardware or software related. Go to MS site and do a search and they recommend what to do. I would start with hardware and uninstall and remove as much hardware as you can untill you have a bare bones system. Add one device and test for a while. Add another, until you find the trouble.
Some concept goes for software.

Hi,
I have a feeling that it has to do with the BIOS power management ACPI/APM setting, it may have been set "one" way and you reinstalled XP the "other" way. Else the setting is just screwed up. Set to ACPI only in BIOS and reinstall.Set all BIOS settings correctly, default, optimal settings are best, and this may fix things.

I get the exact same error message, but it happens when I try to play certain games at Pogo.com. I have a Linksys network card too. I think the card is the problem!
