Can be 2 things:

1 - your power supply is disfunctional or inadecvate. This is mosty with AMD Athlon XP-s and 300W power supply. Recommended power supply for AMD at higher power consumption (like when playing games) is 350W+ .
Possibly there can be problems with disfunctional RAM but i dont this is the matter here.

2. - there is the bad driver setting. Most conflicts are sound-network cards or bad graphic card drivers.
Check sound drivers or graphic card drivers.

If problems is only with this 1 game you are playing then is probably solution 2.
If the problem is with all games you are playing, then it can be 1 or 2.

I am having the same problem. Mainly when playing BattleField 1942. I have tryied a ATI 9000 and 8500 same problems.

I am running WinXP home (new system is 2 months old)
2.4 P4 w/intel fan
350watt p/s
Gigabyte MoBo 8INXP (3.0) RDRAM
512 Megs RDRAM
Sony CD/DVD Rom
Sony DVD RW+ RW
Western Digital 120 gig 8meg buffer
Maxtor 60 gig 2 meg buffer
Creative Audigy gamer
2 USB onboard & 8 plug into the board.

I have already did the format and reinstall and still have this problem. Last night I turned off the restart option in My Computer/right click properties, advanced, settings, and uncheck the auto restart. So i can find out what was happing. and I got this message Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS OR EQUAL

If it is the ram how can i tell?

Thanks
Jay
