IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
i had this blue screen error a couple times while installing windows xp during installation. now after getting all the drivers loaded up, i just got it again basically while the machine was idle. there was also something about a memory dump? not sure exactly whats going on? possibly something to do with a dual channel setup? do i need to possibly change irqs for devices?

It sounds like a device conflict, this is the most typical reason for the not less than or equal to...specifically, a device driver conflict. Make sure you have updated drivers for all of the devices you are using. Especially the video card. Quite frequently, when you install a new OS or system, you start ONLY with the video card in place and then install other things like sound cards, modems, etc. Sometimes, Windows will get bolixed up when there are too many devices to install at once.

So if I were you, I would first pull the other cards out, and just keep your video card in there. Reboot and see if that works first. If you are still getting the blue screen with the not less than or equal to, you KNOW it is your device driver for your video card that is causing the problem.

If not, then probably, too many devices at once. Install the next device and see if you have a problem...and so forth, until all devices are reinstalled. This will either solve the problem or alert you as to which device is causing the device driver error.

outside of installing the latest catalyst drivers i had just d/led. everything else was onboard, most important were the ethernet controller and audio drivers. but those installed together with the mobo cd. after my ethernet was up i was able to d/l latest video drivers, did that. and yea. take into consideration error happened even before windows was completely installed several times. i had to keep installing windows until i guess i got lucky and it went thro all the way

Pawis - I am not sure what you mean by d/led and d/l. Please don't assume I can decipher shorthand.

One thing at a time. Start out only with the video card. Just do that. Disable the other things in BIOS for now, like the ethernet card and sound, since you are using mobo devices. Does the problem go away?

Also, you mentioned Catalyst Drivers...which are ATI drivers...You may have to roll back your driver installation and then try again.

d/led = er... equals downloaded
d/l equals download

sorry about that

alright, i'm still looking for an answer as to why it did that(the during installation several times. so i'm guessing it has something to do with something outside of new or outdated drivers. or at least outside of their power.
UPDATE: had just installed direct x 9.0b,
ran an ati 3d demo, started to install morrowind and was on a flash site. and got this error.

Tech Info:
Stop: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xBA4C6651, OxBAE85BF8, ----------(it restarted before i could get this)

kmixer.sys - Address BA4C6651 base at BA4AC000, DateStamp 3d6ddc1c

Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping of physical memory to disk: 76 (it was still rising and was rising from the start of the blue death screen as I jotted this down on paper)

hrmm, i honestly am not sure how to go about fixing this. i had replaced the videocard for a brand new one this morning(the other one didnt even allow my computer to boot up) so i hope its not that. i'm thinking it has something to do with conflictory IRQs... its been a couple years since i took my a+ class and havent dealt with computers in this was since, so im not much help to myself right now. thanks for any help tho

I'm just adding a link about 'stop errors'
TopLeft on the page, and then scroll down until you find the memory address (like 0x0000007E) that the error message gave you.

I'm sure Jim C will guide you through.
