On my computer i am always logged on and hibernate instead of shut down (just lazy in that sense). But theres more users on my computer. My dad recently got a new iPod video (5th gen) and has started using my computer instead of his because mine is better with the video management, etc... I installed it for him and everything. Now, when I am logged on and he is also logged on, under his user when in iTunes, iTunes does not detect the iPod. The only thing that happens is Windows brings up the F: Drives folder. When im not logged on and hes the only one logged on, iTunes will detect the iPod.
