ipconfit how to activate it

ive been trying to conect to the net and both my modem and line are fine)i was told to try the comand ipconfit \renew and ipconfit \release which should have restarted/activated my pc in some way to conect or get my ip address,all help would be good. thanks in advance

The command is ipconfig /release or /renew not ipconfit \release or \renew

hi well thanks for that 1 lol.right now the next problem,do i type in release or renew to restart my ip address.think thats what im trying to do. all help is so neeeded

open a command window by typing cmd at the start run box.Then ipconfig /release. To release the ip address. Then ipconfig /renew to request a new address. To be honest most of the time this dosn't solve a connection problem. Are you using Dial-up or broadband?
