I/O device error

When I try to access my MP3 player using Windows Explorer, it gives me the message:
"F:\ is not accessible. The requext could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
I've been listening to the same songs for way too long to admit... any suggestions or explanations would be very much appreciated!

yeah your hardrive is on its way out.
I/O error 'means input output error' in other words cant read the drive to input the data to your mp3 player

i've got an External Maxtor Hard Drive and it gives me the same I/O error as explained. What can i do to save the data on the disk or how can i manage to make it work again??
