Reply: (edit)You might try saving the boot.ini file (in a .txt file) onto a floppy disk, then boot from the Win XP disc, then go into the Repair mode. Copy the boot.ini onto the C:\ root directory from the floppy disk. Your 2nd choice, is from the Repair mode, type in the FIXBOOT command, then try booting up from your hard drive. Your 3rd choice is to try re-installing Win XP again. Note that to boot up from the cd-rom XP disc, you may have to go into the BIOS Setup, and change the boot options to 'boot from CD first'. You press the 'Delete' on many computers, to enter the BIOS Setup, after you turn on the power switch. Be sure to change the boot order back to 'boot from HDD first' when you are done fixing the Win XP boot.ini file

Reply: (edit)hi, i just downloaded some booteditor file to change my XP boot up screen but then encountered some problems...after i chose my picture and follow the instructions from the readme file i re-boot my computer and b4 my computer got into XP it prompted me that it could not locate boot.ini file but XP manage to allow me to boot from an old setting and i have to select an option..finally when i am in XP i tried opening up the boot editor program again but again prompted me with the msg "boot.ini not found" does this mean that the boot.ini file is corrupted? but when i get into control panel and go to system start up i am still able to view and edit the boot.ini file....pls advice your response will be very much appreciated. thank you
