in the browser that you are having troubles with, open it and select tools and then manage add-ons. Remove the invalid active x/com entries. Don't worry about deleting the wrong ones as if it is needed a pop-up will inform you to reinstall it....

Leave the Java application add-ons ...JREwehatever and its updating service as well!
