My pc is setup over a wireless network. We have a wireless router connected to a cable modem. Previously, everythig had worked fine.
However, today there was a power cut causing my pc to switch off. When i tured it back on my internet connection would not work. However, i can still access the other shared docs on the network and the other pcs can access mine.
The other pcs weren't affected by the power loss since they have laptops. So they can still access the internet. The router and the modem still seem to work fine.
It just seems to be my pc. I cant access any internet services or log onto messenger. I cant even access the router by enering its IP into explorer.
The strange thing is, when i enter in "ping ####" into cmd prompt, i get responses. Even when i enter in web adresses.
Please help, ive tried everything.

Have you tried rerunning the network setup wizard in "My network places" on the problem PC and then rebooting the PC.
Under TCP/IP properties, is it set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS?
Under Control Panel/Internet options/Connections tab, is it set to auto detect network settings?
Have you gone into Mt Network places and choose network connections and right click your Local area connection and chhose repair?
Have you ran the Net diagnostics?
Start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system info/ tools from up top, and choose net diagnostic.

I have done all that except the Net diagnostics.
So i just ran that and it says that everything passed! I put it to check the Ip addresss, default gateways, DNS servers and DCHP servers and everything passed.

try a system restore to the day before the power cut

I have a linksys router and when a power failure hits it, I have to go into the setup menu and manually reconnect to the internet through the connect/disconnect switch. After that it's okay again.

I would turn off the power to the modem and the router.
Then wait a few seconds and then turn the modem on and let it boot up and settle out.
Then turn the router back on and let it settle out.
Then reboot the problem PC and try to connect.Hope this helps.
