My internet did work and now, for no reason I can find, it doesn't anymore. I have a DSL connection (which works on my other XP machine using the same cable). The light on my ethernet card is on, I have an IP address, Device Manager is saying the Device is working properly, I have the newest drivers. I can't find any conflicts. When I try to connect the only place it takes me to is my ISP's Online Customer Access page. I can't go anywhere else. I have a Belkin ethernet card but XP says I have a Realtech card. I don't know if that is what it said when the internet was working or not. The only thing I noticed was that XP was able to download Windows updates. This leads me to believe that maybe it is a limited connection problem.

Me too, but thats because was infected with 3 trojan horses yesterday. you should run a scan. I fot rid of the viruses but I still cant connect :( They must be lingering... sandra B

I did virus checks and adware checks and found nothing. I reset my modem (unplugged it) and unplugged the computer, then plugged it back in and now it works. Thanks for your input Sandra!
