I've seen that many other people are having this problem, but I've yet to see a solution that will work for me.
I have a cable modem that plugs into a USR wireless router. If I reboot the computer I'm able to surf the internet without a problem for almost exactly 10 minutes then I get no where. I can however access secure websites (https), ping websites, use outlook and instant messenger. I haven't knowingly installed any new software or hardware that I would think would have created this problem. Rebooting the computer solves the problem for 10 minutes and I start all over again.

I've run my hijackthis log thru the analyzer and it didn't have anything that I thought was strikingly bad.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Your ISP blocks non-encrypted websites. Try another browser as well.

It sounds like you may have a setting on your router that limits your access time to 10 minutes...check your settings and/or connect directly to your cable modem to test this. Or the setting might be in your software firewall..sounds to me like something like this is going on.

First of all, call the cable techs...I'll bet they get that question at least once a day. You pay good bucks to be on cable so why not get their advice?

Also try another browser as stated by response 1. EG:
Firefox, Opera, etc

Check your security settings, if you are set on high, that may cause a problem...mine is set on the default setting

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results as it will help others.

I also use Firefox same problem with that browser, I've tried connecting directly into the cable modem thinking maybe my wireless card was on the fritz, no luck there either. I haven't changed any options added or removed any firewalls. I'm thinking it's got to be a virus or something, but I can't figure it out. I have norton AV running all the time and have tried scans and got nothing.

Thank you, any other suggestions?

ok here's another puzzler for me anyhow. I use a cisco vpn to connect to work. This was installed about a month ago so I didn't imagine that it was the problem. I only run the vpn when I'm about to connect to work and close the vpn program completely after I disconnect from work. Just for kicks I thought I would try connecting to work because I can ping and I can use secure websites so I figured it would be worth a try. I opened the vpn client v4.8.02.0010 and tried connecting. I got "Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by Client. Reason 442: Failed to enable Virtual Adapter." But I left the open paddlelock in the taskbar and tried the internet it worked and has been working for about 25 minutes now. So I guess I'll try uninstalling the Cisco VPN Client and try reinstalling it to see if that solves my problem.

I have the same problem on my laptop. Both at home on my wireless and at work on our network. internet connection stops working 2 to 10 minutes after reboot. No Viruses found. No registry problems found. All other connections still work. internet connections that do not use port 80 still work. nothing else looks like it is using port 80. I have uninstalled almost everything I think I can uninstall and might have caused the problem. but it still does not work.

Any ideas before I totally re-built my machine?
Thanks
