Hello,
I have a major problem with my broadband connection. I recently formatted my machine (previously running windows xp pro), and once again installed windows xp pro after the format.
My internet speeds before were perfect, and i had no complaints. However, after formatting... my broadband speed jumped from 1.4 mbps all the way down to 125 kbps. I know there is nothing wrong with my service because my other machines run fine.
If this helps, all the computers are networked to one linksys router which is then connected to my cable modem. The whole network is also wireless based.
Why is my internet connection so slow now?? If anybody can help me out. i would reaaly appreciate it.
You may get answer faster in the networking forum. Left side.

ok..1st..disable wireless on ur router. Some one could be hacking in u network and affecting ur comp. try wiching plugs on the back of the router with another machine to see if the port is bad. Uninstall all network devices and re-boot. Let windows install them and DO NOT provide a diver disk unless it will not work with out.

I'm with kerodude3058. I would also reset your cable modem as well as limit access to your wireless network (like selecting only those computers with certain MAC addresses to use it). How are you testing your connection speed?
