Ok here's the prob. I have Win XP pro on the main PC and win 98se on the second. Now I can file and print share no prob but I can't seem to share an internet connection. I have both PC's hooked threw a hub. Now if I bump the IP of the second machine up by 1 number I can connect no prob. The thing with that is that my ISP doesn't seem to like that too much (they think I'm stealing IP's). Now I've seen all over the place to use ISC, that would be find except I can't seem to find ISC in XP. Can anyone help?

Also when I checked the help section in xp on internet sharing it sais that I have to go to my connection, highlight it and click on change settings of this connection and under the advanced tab there should be check option for sharing connection. I don't seem to have that option under advanced. All's I have is the firewall option.

network connections/advanced/allow other users to connect through this computers internet connection:
it could be that you need to be directly connected(not sure).
may also only be in xp-pro, but that would be silly

Thats the thing. When I go there I don't have the "allow other users to connect through this computers internet connection" option. I'm using windows XP pro and nothing.

I have a hub. My main concern is that I had to bump up the IP # of the second machine, which my ISP doesn't like ppl doing. What I want to do is share the internet connection from my main PC. The thing is I can't seem to find the ICS option in XP PRO. It's not where it's supposed to be.

Ok here's the breakdown
PC 1 (main)
Win XP PRO
DSL connection
1 NIC
Modem to hub
PC to HubPC 2 (other)
Win 98se
1 NIC
PC to HubNow file sharing works fine thats not an issue. My issue is that I want the main computer to be the internet host and the second to be the client. I want to use 1 IP cause as mentioned before, my ISP frowns uppon using 2 different IP's if there not both paid for. Now my ICS is missing. It's not where it's supposed to be. I've checked several places including the XP cd.
Now I've also heard of ppl that have 2 NIC's in there HOST pc and 1 in the client, and what they do is set up a fake private IP for the 2nd NIC. Now can this be done with my setup and if not does anyone know of another easy way to have this set up so that only 1 real IP is needed.

i have 2 nics in my xp and 1 in my 98, direct connection using a xconnect cable,(no hub) my printer is on the xp machine,
i set up both machines and switched on the xp 1st then the 98, ran the small network wiz on the xp, set ics, also allowed my ZA-pro to add any new networks to 'trusted" sites, and then from the xp cd on the 98, everything works fine, i get an address from my isp,on the ics nic, and have 192.168.0.1 for the xp intranet nic and any other 192.168.0.000 on the 98 nic, great connection, in faxt i get faster downloads from the 98.

Ok first things first. Does anyone know how to get my ICS back. I've done serches and can't find it anywhere, and no matter what connection I deside on doing I need that.
Thanking you in advance.

goto the network settings in your internet connection ... if you have installed ics then there will be the option to share that connection ...... if not the best way to set it up is to start a new network connection and then follow the instructions where it says other users connect to the internet via this computer ..... use the ip address 192.168.0.1 on the XP machine and then set the second PC to obtain ip automatically (in TCP/IP properties) if this doesnt work then use the IP addy 192.168.0.2 on the 2nd PC (make sure the subnet 255.255.255.0 is setup)and setup your Gateway and DNS server entries to look for 192.168.0.1 on the 2nd PC and this should work!
