Greetings all! I access the internet at home through a city wide wifi system called FREENET. I use a PEPWAVE Wifi modem that connects to my lan port.
I've been using Norton Internet Security for a number of years now with no problems with internet reception. I recently upgraded to NIS 2009, and after installation I proceeded to update the components. The update went fine until I had to reboot, and I could no longer access the internet. The modem was 'working', and the computer said I was connected, but every time I attempted to use IE or Firefox, the browser kept getting stuck on "waiting on Google, or waiting on Espn.com, etc". I finally uninstalled NIS, and immediately the problem went away. So I tried AVG Internet Security! Now I can get to the internet for about 30 - 40 minutes at a time, and then the 'waiting' starts. I have to 'reset' the modem by dis-connecting the power cable and then plugging it back in...for about another 30 minutes or so of service. AGGRAVATION!!! Are there some settings on these programs that I could tweak to alleviate this problem? For me this FREENET is NOT free, and I had to pay $200 a couple of years ago for the modem, and a $22 monthly charge. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all input.

willslen, SWAG, my thought's the same for both proggies. Suspect you simply need to 'allow' the connection to the ISP in the 'exceptions' area.
