Internet has been running slow. The computer is around 2 months old. We run DSL and the internet is always pretty fast. Well last week it went from fast to much much slower. The only thing manual loaded was PALM OS software. I have ran Microsoft Defender and a couple virus and it picks up nothing. What steps should I run through.

Are you sure it's not just your ISP? Have you ran a bandwidth test?

Bandwidth test:
http://pcpitstop.com/internet/Bandwidth.asp

Cable should be between 4000 & 5000

DSL should be between 1000 & 1500

Since it appears that you are spyware free (I recommend the free Ad-Aware SE for removing spyware:
http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
and Panda Activescan: http:www.pandasoftware.com/activescan
for free online virus scanning.) I recommend turning off all computers, unplugging the POWER to the router (if you have one), and the modem. Wait 15 seconds, plug the modem power back in, wait another 30 seconds, plug in the router's power if you have one, wait another 30 seconds, and turn on the computer. Now run the bandwidth test again.

One more thought - you may need to empty out your Temporary Internet Files folder.
