Hi guys,
I have recently reinstalled my windows due to some problems. I formatted the whole HD after backing up work. Once I installed my genuine copy of XP Pro, I carried out a windows update which was in excess of 100MB. Once I had done that I upgraded to SP2. Since upgrading to SP2 I have started experiencing internet problems.
My internet generally works for like 2 minutes and then seems to go down even though the modem seems perfect with all lights as they should. I only get connection again when i restart my computer.
What could be the problem. I have all my drivers up-to-date thats for sure but i still cant figure why i get internet connection for 2 minutes only.
Any one shine some light please?
Thanks in advance

wrong order ... first install, then upgrade to sp2 and then apply bug fixes
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

just like to add I've done ipconfig at the time when net seems to be down but I still receive an ip address.
also I tried pingin www.bbc.co.uk and I successfully send and receive 4 packets and lose 0 which shows that the modem and internet should be working.
I've heard there are sp2 conflicts with some users internet connections
what could I do to solve this guys

its weird how when uninstalling sp2 my problem is solved. What is the purpose of Sp2 if it is going to increase problems rather than decrease them. The only good thing i experienced was a more funky Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer.

I'm in the same boat. Reinstalled XP home on the laptop. Then SP2, now no internet connection. Followed the fix at http://www.pchell.com/support/limit...
(KB884020) Putting the patch onto a foppy and opening in the laptop, which worked fine. But it doesn't like the scripted I added as per the instructions.
Really don't want to remove SP2 but looks like the only soluction for me.and one,day man will land on the moon!
