I cannnot get the internet to work on my computer (I'm using a different one to type this obviously). It was working fine until all these pop-ups kept coming up even when I wasn't in a webpage. So I installed Ad-Aware and updated the definitions then ran a full system scan. It found a lot of stuff and I selected all of it and hit delete like I usually do (this is a new computer.). So with everything removed, I reboot the computer and then the internet won't work. The network says limited or no connectivity. I do the repair thing in network connections but it says it wasn't assigned an IP address. So, I copy the setting from a working computer on the network and then fill them in there manually (with a slightly different IP of course). The network comes up as connected and I can access any shared files on the network, but the internet will still not work. I tried reinstalling the drivers for the wireless card, reinstalling the actual card, and doing system restore. Any help is greatly appreciated and hopefully I can get this up and running soon.

Try start-run-type CMD
type IPCONFIG/ release-enter
type IPCONFIG /renew-enter
note space between C and /.Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks. It would be a courtesy if you would post back and let us know if the fix worked or not.

You may need to fix the winsock
Try this app,it could do the trick:http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
Hope it helps

Nothing was working so I'm just reformatting and doing a fresh install of windows. There were only a few programs on it and those can be easily reinstalled. Thanks for the help anyways.
