Hi, I just upgraded to Win XP Pro from XP Home, and whenever I leave the computer after about two hours (sometimes five minutes), it doesn't worl like it has disconnected, but it says it is connected. So I have to disconnect and reconnect every time. I have 1.5mbit broadband with TPG (Australian ISP), and it was fine before I upgraded. Any suggestions?

Have you tried checking every telephone socket in the house to make sure the DSL filter is that FIRST thing that comes out of the telephone wall socket, I had the exact same problem last week and found that a DSL filter was in the wrong place. Yeh, it is in the right place. I found it only disconnects when I stop interet activity, like going into My Computer. And straight away. I might reformat and go back to XP Home later.

Before you do anything (i.e. System Restore, or Reformat) have you tried contacting your ISP to see if they can offer any solutions, mite be one little thing thats causing the whole system to operate incorrectly, maybe a driver conflict either in the modem drivers or in the XP Pro software, maybe try and find new driver software for your modem and see if that helps your problem.
