Internet isn't working.

Specs: xp, 1.86/1G
I'm connected to my router by ethernet, and xp tells me that there is a connection established, and that it is functioning fine. Whenever I try to use any applications that need the internet though (IE, Firefox, trying to install Daemon Tools) it tells me that the internet is not connected. The computer is an old one, and is part of a domain, I don't know if that is a problem.

I know that there is not a problem with the internet connection itself, becasue I have dual booted Ubuntu and xp, and the internet works perfectly fine with ubuntu.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a DNS issue. Please post the Windows IPCONFIG /ALL and a PING YAHOO.COM.

If the computer is no longer in use on the domain, then the domain is the problem.
For example: It was a company computer and now you have it at home....if this is the would be best to go back to a workgroup as it is trying to log back onto the company server/domain and then out their internet. The tcp/ip connection is probably set to use specific DNS servers, which you may need changed to "obtain automatically".
