I hava bell sympatico high speed internet DSL and it runs extremly slow. I only have norton and msn running in the background. I would appriciate it if you could tell me any ways I can make it run faster, downloads or not i would just like some help. JC

How long has it been since you deleted the Temporary Internet Files, Defragmented your computer, or ran Disk Cleanup? ----- Delete Temp Inet Files ----- 1. Go to Start and click on Control Panel 2. Click Classic view from the menu on the left within Control Panel 3. Click on Internet Options I'm using IE7 Beta but similiar instructions apply. 4. Under Browsing History click Delete 5. Under Temporary Internet Files click Delete then click OK ----- Defragment Hard Disk ----- 1. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click on Disk Defragmenter. 2. Select your hard disk from the selections and click on Defragment. >Depending on the size of your hard disk it could take up to two hours, usually just 5 or 10 minutes depending on whither or not you run defrag on a regular basis. ----- Disk Cleanup ----- 1. Go to My Computer and 'right' click on the hard disk. Select Properties. 2. Click on Disk Cleanup. 3. Put a checkmark beside everything in the list and click OK. Disk Cleanup will run and clean out most of the 'left-overs' on your computer.

What's your current max speed? What does your DSL provider say it should be? Sorry, I do not check for private messages

I suggest running a spyware scan as well just to be sure :) You can use Spybot, Adaware or Windows Defender all of which are free just google the name for a download.
