when i used to open my IE i used to do it from clicking the shortcut on the taskbar. that blue E icon :) when i used to minimize my IE window the same blue "E" would be present on the minimised window but now no! the icon of the IE window (minimised or not) is now a small skyblueish "e" with a whitepage in the background. it's the icon for a html file or internet link. how do i get my Blue default E back. i have tried reinstalling IE and tried sfc /scannow thing and even deleted the iconcache.db file. still its the same thing. i even tried powertoys tweakUI ... :(
very weird !
hope i expressed myself clearly. am sure there's a simple solution but i do need help :) email me pls wael_zekri@yahoo.com

I'm assuming you mean the Internet icon in your quicklaunch area to the right of your Start button. Just right click that icon, choose "Properties" and under the "Shortcut" tab click the "Change Icon" button and choose the icon you want. click it to hilite it then click OK.

Hope This Helps,

wael_zekri, OK, I now understand what you mean and it's a simple fix. Go into Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File types tab, scroll down to "HTML Document" and hilite it, click the "Advanced" button then click the "Change Icon" button and hilite the icon you want and click OK.

Do your "Favourites" icons change to the same? Mine do. Websites like Yahoo have their own icon but mine keep changing to the default IExplore icon?

Good morning; just wondering....can the icons in the "favorites" list, be changed also? Almost all of mine have that traditional "E" explorer type icon; just wondering if there are different ones to choose from. Thanks!

wael_zekri, I notice on my XP machine that if I open more than 2 Internet Explorer windows the icon in the TaskBar changes to the blue e Internet Explorer icon. You really don't have a problem because what you're seeing are the icons Windows XP and Internet Explorer default to. You can play around in Folder Options/File Types/Advanced button/Change icon and try different things but that's up to you. If you goof up you can always change them back to what they were originally.

Thanks, Tufenuf....I might toy around with it a little later. Always been wondering if there were options to change 'em around, thanks!
