Comment:

When I try to start IE I get an error that says
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runetime Error
Program C:\ProgramFiles\InternetExplorer\iexplore.exe
this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

what does this mean and how can I fix it.

It means IE has been corrupted, uninstall, and reinstall. IE6 is available for d/load from Microsoft.com.

I don't know where to start but since none smarter then "myself" has answered I would look for "VIRI". Scan for virus or reinstall IE.
