I should first say that this problem is the latest following a complete system recovery and reinstallation of XP - and is the most irritating of all the problems I've encountered!
Simply put, I can sign on to AOL, open any sites using the AOL Browser, however Internet Explorer refuses to load any page. The "busy" eggtimer cursor just sits there doing nothing.
This only seems to have occurred since the latest Windows Update "hotfixes" were installed. I've tried reinstalling IE, disabling firewall and AV, but with no success. I did think about uninstalling the updates in reverse chronological order until it worked again, however I am seeing a warning suggesting that other programs may not work if the hotfix is removed.
I'd would be so grateful for any advice,
many thanks in advance,
Sarah

A couple of things to look at--
You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link
(or window is blank)Issues after you install updates to Internet Explorer or Windows
Removing Windows software updates in the wrong order may cause the operating system to stop functioning

By the way, Doing a System Restore, to a date when all was good, will remove Updates that were
installed after that date.Using System Restore too many times can cause
more harm than good. After doing a restore
that does not fix a problem, then UNDO the
Restoration, and try another restore point, or
just do the UNDO.
