When I am surfing, I seem to get random freeze ups in IE when I am on pages that usually have different colored scroll bars, which might suggest a problem with "Java script", or some "activex control' that is installed. Was wondering if anybody else was seeing this?? The freeze ups are so bad, I have to do a hard boot of the puter..

Hi , go to start+run+type "MSCONFIG" click on "OK", it will open the "System Configuration Utility". Check the box which says "Selective Startup" in the "General Tab" and then uncheck the tab "Load all startup group items". Clik on apply and then ok and then restart the system.

Been there, done that, it was the first thing I did, thinking it might be something running in the background, but......same thing was happening..

No good........I've even tried the XP repair option, when booting from the install CD, which still makes me believe it is an app or activex control running somewhere. Did a full virus scan with Norton with the newest definitions, and even went to the "Housecall" site and did an online virus check...nothing.......will continue to look........

Download memtest86. Could be bad ram. Also, has this just occurred recently? How about System Restore to before the freezing. Need more info.
