I never had this problem before: Every time I double click my Internet Explorer, it looks like its about to load, mouse pointer turns to hour glass, but nothing happens the hour glass goes back to a normal pointer and IE doesnt load at all. When trying to open IE through MSN Messenger "send email" menu option, I get the same thing - it doesn't load at all.
it was working fine, all I did was literally reset the laptop through normal windows reset and suddenly it refuses to work. I've tried Mcafee, Spybot, Adaware. Nothing helped. strangely Adaware seems to crash while running a full system scan and i don't know if this is somehow related to the IE problem?
Any help in getting my IE to work would be much appreciated. Cant do IE repair because IE doesnt appear in my add/remove programs (apparently because theres no backup so its natural Xp security)

Have your tried a System Restore?
I believe that IE is so embedded in the OS that it cannot be repaired on it's own. Every other time I've heard of an IE crash, it's always required a re-install of the OS. I've never experienced an IE crash with XP, so I'm only guessing (hoping?) a System Restore will fix the problem.

Hi ... Have a look at this website , it explain how to repair or reinstall IE

Thanks for the replies so far.. I'm trying theeldergeek.com methods right now.. One thing I think I forgot to mention, I.E. does start ok in Safe Mode - does this offer any clues ?

Things have gotten a lot worse after doing a system restore. Now the laptop won't load windows - it freezes at the Compaq title screen. Safe Mode does not work either - it freezes at the first Safe Mode screen. Help!
