You have been hijacked by the search bar.Download "hijack this" and upgrade it and then run it and look for any listings of "search" this or that and check them and then have it fixed and it should take care of your problem. Now adays you need more than just a little protection from unwanted downloads and hijackings.
I use spybot s&d with spywareblaster and hijackthis with win patrol. All freeware/shareware. Never been infected. Am on 24/7 behind a dlink router with 4 machines running with Mcafee virus protection and firewall.
spybot>kills adware
spywareblaster>protecting before any is downloaded
hijack this> protection against registery hyjacks
win patrol>same as hijack this but has a sound alarm(scotty dog barks at u) when any new registry program comes in plus is easier to use than hijack this.
google away
