|OK. Two further suggestions to consider:|
From IE go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced". Press the Reset button and see if that helps.
If that doesn't help go to "Control Panel > Add-Remove Programs" and make sure the box is ticked to show MS Updates. If IE is listed then uninstall it, which should set you back to a previous IE version. Now try the IE8 download again. It might be a good idea to restart the computer after the uninstall and before using the download.
