Has anybody noticed that IE 7 is not listed in control panel/ add or remove, even with show updates checked. It used to be there and I could remove ie7 and it would go back to ie6.
Now IE is not listed for me and I'm wondering what happened, did IE 7 final do this. Do you guys still have it listed in add/remove.
thx,
california

Look for it in Control Panel/ Add or Remove / Add/Remove Windows Components...

I use CrapCleaner as it lists the programs which are hidden in add/remove:

I Installed IE7 yesterday

It does appear in my Add\Remove as Windows Internet Explorer 7 - even without listing all the Updates

Try remove it manually:

click Start, click Run, type
%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe,
and then press ENTER.

Note: %windir% is the location of your Windows directory, which can usually be found at C:\Windows. To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

Curious - did you use a HD utility program that recovers hard disk space by deleting temporary files and folders?

If so according to this MSKB for IE7 Beta 2:

The program may have deleted the uninstallation folder that contains all the original Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 files and registry keys. When this folder is missing, you cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 by using Add or Remove Programs. Additionally, you cannot restore Internet Explorer 6. You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 by deleting this folder.

Ah, you guys are so smart. Thank you all for your input.
IE componets had 00mb.
Yes, it was listed in CCleaner where I normally remove programs and it had always been in control panel add/remove last time I checked.
I ran another utility that said Windows Internet Explorer 7 "Missing uninstall program"
The link to MS support confirmed it all.
Curious - did you use a HD utility program that recovers hard disk space by deleting temporary files and folders?
Yes-yes, I do use quite a few cleaning utilities for fun.
Now I know where the folder went : )
Thanks again everybody, most helpful.

I am thinking about installing IE7 which has appeared as a Windows update. In view if what has been written above I looked to see if I could find any mention of uninsalling IE6 in my control panel or anywhere else and I can't find anything. Am I to assume there fore that the necessary folder has probably been deleted by a small program that I use called Disk Cleaner which removes temporary system files? Also if I install IE7 will I be unable to install and return to IE6?
Thanks.
