Hi There
Im having problems with IE6. It started to muck up real bad, where I couldnt get into alot of sites. I could get into some of them, and if I was lucky, I got to access some of the information on the site, however that varied all the time. So I thought I would delete it and then reinstall it. Big mistake that was as things just got really confusing and messed up. So I tried to restore it using Add/Remove Window Components, and I have no idea what that did, but it didnt do anything. Anyways, now, I can't access it. I can access my internet options in control panel. I since then copied Internet Explorer 4.0 from another computer and put it on here, but its just the exe file, couldnt install it as it said that I still had ie6. So now when I use the net, Im using IE4 having to access the exe file all the time. How do I get internet explorer 6.0 to work properly again?
Thank you so much in advanced to anyone who can help me. I have lost many hairs over this problem so any closure to this would be more than appreciated.

Renee, SWAG, not sure this'll work, but worth a try. Go into add/remove and act like you wanna get rid of it. Once selected for removal, you should get a menu with 'repair' listed as one of the options. Cross your fingers and select that one. Dunno?

Hey Ed
I forgot to mention that internet explorer is not in amongst the program list on there. Only in Windows Component thingy so I tried to do it in there, and nothing came up apart from clicking next.

Hi There Simomcholey
I went to that page, and went to do what it suggested;
1. While you are logged on as an administrator, click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP, use the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
Now, Im stuck here......where it says I have to enter that registry key, I have no idea where to enter that........when I right click on that file in the registry - it just comes up with the value box and the so there isn't anywhere to enter that key....Would you know where I could do this.

Hi Simon
Don't worry. I found it. I sat back and read the key properly and found that I had to go and click on that file from the list under Installed Components to combine it with the file. Everything works now. Again thank you so much for that page. At last some closure
