I cannot keep Internet Explorer running. I have run SFC on it numerous times, but it will only run a day or two, and sometimes less than a day, when it will only flash and not open. This morning, when I started computer, it would not open at all; I had run SFC yesterday. I had created a restore point so restored and it opened. But it will be gone before the day is out I am sure.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this, and a possible cure?
I am using a local ISP and have for several years, on a dial up. Works well when IE will open.
Thanks for any suggestions.
George

Sounds like spyware activity to me.
The problem now being that you need to get
on the web to download something like
SpyBot or AdAware to get rid of the crud.
Good luck!

another option would be to download another program to handle the job of ie entirely to see if that fixes your problem, you may have to get it from another computer but you can download a spy free internet program from here:

http://www.chameleonbrowser.com/

this will work if it is an IE problem only, hope this helps

Thanks for your comments. I have been running Ad Aware and SpyBot for months, seldom finding anything.
And I have downloaded Opera; don't particular like it, but may have to go for it anyway!
Again, thanks for responding.

I got fed up with I.E hanging and not opening.
Give mozilla firebird a whirl.Identical to I.E really in looks and has a lot more featues. No install just extract all files to a directory and run.

Clover, I have downloaded and installed the current version of Mozilla, and boy, am I happy with it!
I didn't download Firebird, just the current version.
Thanks so much for the suggestion. Seems much easier to use than Opera.
