internet disconnects

Hey,I have a problem with my internet connection when I am running a high CPU usage app, if I were to lets say rip a CD and at that time am connected to the internet, it will disconnect me. I thought about svchost.exe getting a high priority, but that doesn't work, also when I am uploading a file then I try to turn on a game or something that uses 98% of the CPU it will d/c me, even when I just open the pinball game! any advice that will keep my connection going even through armagadon? Thanks =)

98% usage for an extended period of time is most likely the culprit. Modems do require a bit of "attention" to keep the connection alive and if the cpu is too busy elsewhere, it will disconnect. You can try updating drivers, though I doubt that will help. You can try a different modem. You can also try trimming you cpu use down a bit. Go through your start up and remove any items not necessary.

Thats just the thing, I have the game that runs anywhere from 88% to 100% and I have 1.9Ghz @ 768MB ram, can't I just set the modem to a higher priority, and add something else? and also when I upload does that take 100%? Because I can run a 2% CPU program and it will disconnect the upload even if I am running a very low priority app.
Summary: Internet Disconnects in 3 seconds after its been connected.. i can load a website or download things within 3 seconds, and later it gets disconnected by itself. for 3 seconds, internet works properly....
