Dont know if anyone can help with this problem but here goes. The other week I had problems uninstalling system works and had to do it through the registry which was fine, then after that I had a problem and did a system restore, since then I cannot get onto the Internet. The network connects and says the signal is good but web pages or msn messenger will not open. I know the router is working ok because I am using the wifi on the laptop. If I click on repair in msn it highlights keyports and hosts, I have tried connecting with the firewall off but no joy. I have also tried to connect using a hardwired bb modem and it says connected but I cannot get onto the Internet.

Pinging the sites is a good start and will help to show
whether you have at least some form of connection being
transmitted.

It's possible that you might have a problem with your
registry if this has followed a registry edit and a restore.
Have you tried any of the registry cleaning tools out there?
Give it a scan and see if anything gets detected, but of
course, check that you can ping first.
