Hi
My machine was recently loaded up with spyware\adware and trojans. I used Spybot, AdAware, AVG Free Antivirus and McAfee Antivirus to clean it up (most of it I hope).
Now when I try to use the Internet with any program, I can't. I can connect to my DSL with no trouble, and it says I'm connected but when I try to use IE, I can't get a webpage to display, or when I try to update AdAware, Spybot, AVG or anything else, it tells me my connection has failed.

I have also tried using my old dial up connection but it does the same thing. It will dial and connect fine but then I can't use any programs to access the Internet.

I have tried removing the connections under Network Connections and making new ones. I have gone to Device Manager and removed all the network devices and reinstalled them. I don't have any firewalls installed (except Windows Firewall).

Unless there's still some bug in there that I didn't get that's not allowing me Internet Access. It worked before I did the clean up.
Thanks for any ideas on this!
Homer

Hey ... Make sure you only use one antivirus software ... I would use Antivir personal edition: www.freeav.com and then ... run this scan House Call free online virus scanner: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

and it should remove trojans ... and spyware or what ever you have ... to make sure you should use TDS: Do NOT at any chance try to crack this software you will get a federal penalty House Call free online virus scanner: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

and then ... and you should get firefox, Ie is not so good full of malware, Heres the link for Firefox: Spybot S&D direct download: http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10194058.html?tag=lst-0-1

Good Luck :-)

The winsock fix was what I needed. It's working again now.
