My connection seems to time out if allowed to be idle for more than a few minutes. Most commonly this is noticed when using my Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to connect to my off-site server. Obviously the connection falls apart whenever I allow the computer to sit idle for a little while. Also, this will affect my internet browsing, as the browser will also time out if I have allowed my computer to sit idle for a few minutes. In order to correct this problem, I either have to reboot my machine, or sometimes it will start working again randomly. I am experiencing no error messages or alerts along with this problem. It is very random and silent, but extremely frustrating. Any help will be appreciated. - David

David, Your problem can usually be traced to your ISP. Many of them will disconnect an inactive hook-up. Check and see if you can convince them to give you a longer wait time although they usually stick to their schedule.

Thanks for your response. I'll check that out, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I think 5 minute would be too short for any ISP to cut off.
