Hi, I have spent over 3 hours trying to connect my new laptop to my PC and share the internet.
I've done this in the past many times and everytime I've had troubles (at least 1 hour to setup).
Here is my settings:
My PC
-----
- windows xp pro
- connects to DSL dialup
- bridged connection created by network wizard
- bridge ip = 192.168.0.1
- subment mask = 255.255.255.0
- dsl ip = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
- ping 192.168.0.2 works fine
- file/printer sharing enabled
- can access all shared files on my laptop
- web browser works fineMy Laptop
---------
- windows xp home sp2
- ip = 192.168.0.2
- subment mask = 255.255.255.0
- default gateway = 192.168.0.1
- file/printer sharing enabled
- I can see my PC's shared files and access them full (working fine)
- ping 192.168.0.1 works fine
- internet exploere CAN NOT browse the web (problem here)please anything i've missed? I've ran network wizard many times, uninstalled dirvers and reinstalled them. All network theory seems fine.
Note my laptop has wireless card too, but i guess that's not a problem. The only weird thing i noticed is that when i run network wizard on my laptop, it tells me that my wirless is not connected thus i have to tell it to ignore.
But then when the wizard procceds, its does not list my laptop's network adapter, just says network created for MSHOME...finish.!!!

Did you enabled the ICS in the properties of your connection icon. It should be right under the settings of the firewall for xp.
