Internet Connection Problem Windows XP

Specs: Windows XP

I have installed Windows XP Professional Edition OS to an old laptop but cannot access the Internet. I have basically followed wizard set up and other Internet troubleshooting information still no good. Can anyone advise? I'm using mini windows xp off the Hiren's BootCD from same laptop which works great.

You didn't post the make/model of the laptop or its specs - it would have been helpful.

Did you install the network drivers?

So if your mini xp disc has the drivers that you need for your nic, just leave that CD in your computer, go to your device manager right click on your nic device and update the drivers software, let windows find the correct driver off of your CD.

Thanks for the replies.

Make/model of the laptop - Sony Vaio PCG-7L1M

Network Drivers for Windows. Will a drive update do this?

I will also try out Gretti advice.
