Hi,
I'm having problems with my internet connection. Windows XP status bar says: "Limited or no connection". LAN status shows that packets are sent, but not received. I have replaced NIC, cable modem and network cable with a new ones, but no help. I have installed recently Windows XP Pro and connection worked just fine about a week. Connection started to slow down after house cleaning before it went completely down.
I've tried with a laptop and connection is working just fine. With same Eth. cable, modem etc. equipment which I use with workstation.
I'm out of ideas... Hope someone knows what is the problem. I have MSI KT4V motherboard and there is integrated NIC, which I used, but I have tried SMC EZ 1255 NIC just to rule that out. Modem is Thomson DCM235E or DCM245E (Don't know for sure which one cause I'm not writing this from my connection).
Here is some kind of a drawing about this problem: http://personal.inet.fi/koti/pate/kuvat/prob.JPG
Thanks,
Damii

Yes I have tried right clicking the LAN/repair. Repair freezes when renewing IP address and it says after a while that connection cannot be repaired and contact your network administrator.
Workstations IP address is provided by operator and there is no NAT device or anything else that is blocking connection, I think. I have checked and disabled Windows XP firewall.
I'll try to restore system to before house cleaning and report to you did it help (Takes a while because I'm not near it)

You may pick up something here.
Broadband Tip: How to keep DNS Errors from slowing you down!

Works for dial-up too!

Okey, here is the situation at the moment:

And after all I reinstalled Windows XP and it didn't help either...
What makes this problem strange is that the problem is limited only in this one PC. Only with this one desktop PC connection stays down. With laptop connection comes up. I really thought that the problem has to be in this desktop PC, but no. I tried with same settings another Internet connection and it worked just fine. I really am wondering what tha hell can be wrong. Could there be rasist operators DHCP server :)
If anyone has any idea what might be the cause of this I would appreciate if you would share solution with me.
Damii
