internet connection icon (systray)

hi all,
can anyone tell me how to bring out that little internet connection icon which suppose to appear on system tray (right bottom on screen beside clock.)?
nic : allied telesyn at-2500xt internet connecton : broadband

Go to; "Start", then "Connect to", then "show all connections" then right click on the network your using and choose "properties" then select the check box at the bottom that reads,"Show icon in notification area when connected"

Youre computer may be hiding that icon, try right clicking on the task bar, at the bottom of that tab click on customize, then make sure ur network icon doesn't hide itself

ok, under "customize notification", i change it from "hide when inactive" to "always show". but it still didn't appear.
