Hi
I have win xp pro, and a D-link dsl 3001 adsl modem and a davicom 9102 Based PCI fast ethernet adapter, and sometimes the internet stops working, the connection works but the internet doesnt work, cant go to sites, or check mail. The internet will work again if i restart it.
It didnt do this when i had windows 98.any suggestions ?
Thanks

Hmmmm..have try to disabled DNS? Maybe is a bad NIC card. You are using PPPoE built in right? It's better to use XP built in, other than third party wares.

I have had this problem and have read of a couple of post from people with the same problem. No one seems to be able to find an answer. I reinstalled xp for a different reason and it solved that problem as well.
Sorry for the lack of a better answer

This actually happens to me a lot as well.
I use a wireless dLink network adapter that receives its signals from a dLink router... There just seems to be times when the internet connection becomes so slow that it's unusable. I know it's not a problem with traffic, because another CPU in my house shares the cable and it works fine when mine doesn't. I haven't been able to pinpoint the problem, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the dLink hardware. You can't imagine how many times I've seen people returning their dLink modems, routers, etc...
I already had to get a new RCA modem to replace the dLink one.
I'll probably end up changing all my dLink hardware as time goes on.
I'm just glad my net connection isn't down at this moment...

I was using a v.92 56k modem when it happened to me. Other post that I have read has been both dial up and broadband. So it may not be the hardware. Maybe uninstalling then reinstalling some network protocols might help.

Simple... the f---'n davicom don't have a win xp compatible driver for 9102. I have this problem too.

I have the same exact problem. I have a dell 8200 notebook using XP home, with dell trumobile internal wireless card. At my brothers house he has a netline wireless router hooked to cable. It usually works for about 20min before it disconnects me from the internet. I just reset it and I am back in business. At home I used to have a Siemens SpeedStream 2623 router and had the same problem. I exchanged it for the SpeedStream 2624 and all my problems at home are solved.
